Empire State Tibet Protest Sep 30, 2009

Tibetans and supporters protest the Empire State Building turning its lights red and yellow to honor the founding of the People's Republic of China. To us, there is nothing to celebrate about the last 60 years of oppression, torture, imprisonment, killings, and brutality at the hands of the Chinese government. In this video, Lhadon Tethong, Executive Director of Students for a Free Tibet, speaks about the irony of dedicating this American cultural icon to the celebration of an imperialist government that is known for torturing and oppressing Tibetans, Uyghurs and its own citizens.
