42 Arrested Protesting Obama Guantanamo Closure Failure

As one of his very first acts as president, Barack Obama signed an executive order to close the military prison for terror suspects within a year. The one-year mark came and went last week, but the prison remains open. Obama has not offered a new deadline. In Washington, DC, 42 activists with Witness Against Torture were arrested while protesting the missed deadline.

More than 200 protesters marched a half mile to a rally at the military academy's gates. They carried candles and protest signs saying "The audacity of torture,'' "Get out now," and "How many lives per gallon?'' One protester, carrying a large cardboard bomb, wore an American flag as a cape and a mask of President Bush breaking through a mask of Obama.

End The Fed Protest San Francisco CA 11/22/09
A large group of protesters assembled at the San Francisco Ferry Building at 11:00 AM November 22, 2009. They proceeded to march towards the federal reserve at approximately 11:30AM. They made there way from the ferry building to the San Francisco Federal Reserve Building on 101 Market St. Many of the protesters were giving speeches and speaking on megaphones chanting, "END THE FED" and "ARREST THE BANKERS!". The protest was made up of several different meetup groups, ethnicity's, and political backgrounds. This is the REAL tea party. The group was a mixture of all races and creeds.

Protest targets Goldman's billions - 17 Nov 09

A crowd of protesters have gathered outside the Washington DC headquarters of banking giant Goldman Sachs.

The protesters were angry at the more than $20bn in bonuses paid to Goldman Sachs executives.

Now the company is spending millions more lobbying the US congress against legislation giving the government the authority to break up big financial institutions.

November fand in den Vereinigten Staaten eine Demonstration mit dem Titel „40 days for life - „40 Tage für das Leben statt, eine Initiative der Pro-Life Bewegung in den USA, während der auch Gebetsabende vor Abtreibungskliniken veranstaltet wurden, um diese medizinischen Praktiken zu beenden. Seit dem Jahre 2007 bis heute wurden in Kanada, Irland und Australien zeitgleich vier ähnliche Kampagnen organisiert. Dieses Jahr soll es Gebetsgruppen vor 212 Abtreibungskliniken geben. „40 days for life wurde am 27. September in Jacksonville mit einer Eucharistiefeier von Bischof Victor Galeone begonnen. Sofort danach begann eine Prozession mit dem Allerheiligsten, die von der Pfarrei Maria Aufnahme in den Himmel aus startete, in der ein Womens Help Center eingerichtet ist. 200 Personen nahmen an der Prozession teil, darunter auch die Kolumbusritter, viele Jugendliche und Mitglieder der Pro-Life Organisationen, sowie der Gruppe Focolare della Madre. Am Ende der Prozession erteilte der Bischof allen anwesenden Teilnehmern für den Beginn von „40 Tage für das Leben den Segen.

9/10/09 we are change

September 10th, 2009 Real Change Conference in New York City. During the day we marched and protested around midtown. The stops included David Rockefeller's house, The Council On Foreign Relations, and a synagogue that was being attended by Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. David Patterson. You can see the heavy police presence throughout the protest including the impressive mobile command center! Many fliers and dvd's were handed out and there was a lot of support by pedestrians.

JPMorgan Chase's Carnival of Destruction!

On October 29th, the New York Action Network, Ran, the Waterkeeper Alliance and the Sierra Club organized a Carnival of Destruction outside JPMorgan Chases mid-town Manhattan headquarters. Scores of protesters gathered to demand that the bank stop financing the coal industry, including the devastating practice of mountaintop removal coal mining. Just last week JPMorgan Chase financed company, Massey Energy began blasting on Coal River Mountain, an action that makes this mornings protest even more urgent.

We called this protest a Carnival of Destruction because JPMCs investments in dirty coal truly are the Most Shocking Show on Earth.
